Learning Objectives

  • SCIENZE TECNICHE E DIETETICHE APPLICATE

    After successful completion of this course, students will be able to define nutritional requirements in the various stages of life cycle, such as infancy, childhood and adolescence, adulthood, oldness, and pregnancy/lactating women; provide health recommendations; and recognize early and late life consequences of inadequate nutrient intake.

  • ENDOCRINOLOGIA

    The course aims to deepen the knowledge on the pathophysiological mechanisms of the main endocrine-metabolic diseases correlated to pregnancy and in some clinical conditions of adulthood and the role of diet in their prevention and treatment.

  • Nutrition in pediatric ages

    Aim of the course is to provide knowledges on aspects of physiology of the child and on main physiopathological conditions and pediatric diseases which need nutritional intervention, on role of nutrion in their prevention and/or treatment

  • GINECOLOGIA ED OSTETRICIA

    The course aims to integrate the diet with the nutritional needs of both pregnant women and women of childbearing age and menopause. It can be noted that in particular these are infectious or embryonic and fetal development risks connected to nutrition or behavioral problems always with regard to alteration of the diet. Nonetheless, attention will be focused on nutrition as a possible contributing factor to the metabolic syndrome underlying the PCO or marked osteoporosis already present in climacteric.

  • GINECOLOGIA ED OSTETRICIA

    The lessons will mostly be lectures, assisted by the use of videos and slides. These are interactive lessons in which the student can discuss with the teacher for any clarification. To ensure better learning, after each lesson students will be given the slides of the lesson they have taken and the following one.

    During the lectures the following arguments will be discussed:

    • introduction to the concepts, definitions and approaches used to define nutritional needs and recommendations in context of life cycle stages;
    • evidence used for making recommendations;
    • nutrition during infancy, childhood and adolescence: nutritional requirements with focus on child development issues;
    • nutrition during adulthood: focus on prevention of non-communicable diseases;
    • nutrition in elderly: how to meet the nutritional needs of older people;
    • nutrition during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding): nutritional recommendations, focus on maternal diet and infants health outcomes;
    • health consequence of inadequate nutrient intake during the life cycle.
