Learning Objectives

  • Anatomic Pathology

    At the end of the course the student must have acquired the fundamental concepts of the main reactive and neoplastic changes of tissues and organs, be able to interpret and inform correctly the patient about the pathology described in a histo-cytopathological diagnosis.

  • Anatomic Pathology

    Elements of histocitopathological technique

    Histopathological examinations: incisional and excisional biopsies, surgical biopsy, cytological examinations. Examples

    Preservation of biological samples: chemical and physical fixation; intraoperative histological examination. Examples

    General Pathological Anatomy

    Non-neoplastic cell alterations: hypertrophy, hyperplasia, atrophy, hypotrophy, aplasia, metaplasia; examples

    Neoplasms: general characters: dysplasia, carcinoma in situ, invasive carcinoma; examples

    Benign and malignant, epithelial and non-epithelial tumors: classification; examples

    Grade and stage of neoplasia: examples

    Interpretation of an histocitopathological report.
